U8 - ORANIEN RAPTORS
WE SHARE THE JOURNEY WITH YOUR CHILDREN IN THEIR FORMATIVE YEARS
The Corona pandemic was a painful reminder of how important it is for children to have sufficient outlets for exercise. Being kept at home for months on end, without opportunities for socialising with their friends and teammates, meant that many children developed depression and other problems. Fortunately, we can now resume the old activities and perhaps even increase them. In our U8 group, your children have the perfect opportunity to let off steam and learn those necessary life-lessons and skills.

THAT’S WHY SPORT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR DEVELOPING CHILDREN
The years from 6 to 10 are crucial years in a child's physical and mental development. During this time, things like self-esteem, the self-image and acknowledgement of one's own achievements and body, and also health-related phenomena like the tendency to obesity, and control of motor skills are consolidated. Children develop new routines that will maintain for decades.
For this reason, sport is enormously important, especially for children in this age-bracket. This is because the motor skills that subtly developed in infancy must now be linked to decision-making in the mind. In the process, qualities such decision-making speed, the ability see the broader picture, and a sense of responsibility for one's own decisions are formed. With the right type of sport, your children will be set up for prime development in this context.
CHILDREN ARE NOT SMALL ADULTS. THEIR GROWING BODIES ARE STILL FORMING AND REQUIRE CAREFUL EXERCISE
There is no such thing as the one perfect sport for your child - in fact, there are a number of exciting and beneficial sports that can develop your child's physical as well as mental and social skills. Rugby, however, is up there with the best of them.
It is clear that children have a vastly different physiology to adults. This formative difference means that training for children under the age of 8 must first and foremost be appropriate for children. At this age especially, it is imperative to avoid injury as far as possible. This requires, above all, training that is tailored to the needs and abilities of your children. Our experienced trainers in the U8 offer your children optimal opportunities to work off their extra energy and move around a lot. What’s more, they keep a keen eye on load control right from the start.
DID YOU KNOW?
Children perceive physical stress differently to adults. The real recovery time required for the muscles, ligaments and bones is greater than their subjective feeling of tiredness. What this means is that children, left to themselves, are at risk of overtaxing their own bodies. It’s our job to guide your children, showing them what makes up a good training day. They’ll learn the feeling of well-being that comes with good exercise with pauses for the necessary breaks.
TEAM SPORTS – SCHOOLS FOR LIFE
By now it should be clear that you will hardly find a better school of life for your child than a sports club. This is where your child learns the most important elements of teamwork. In addition, they’ll learn a healthy ambition, as well as the desire to, where necessary, go beyond one's own limits and give 120%.
In addition to the classic benefits of team sports, rugby has the edge with a few extra elements. For example, rugby is a classic contact sport - so your child learns assertiveness at an early age. And it teaches tenacity and resilience – how to get back up after a fall and keep going. Naturally, these skills are taught in a controlled environment to ensure sensible and healthy moderation.
THIS IS WHAT WE OFFER YOUR CHILD AT THE ORANIEN RAPTORS
Our U8s training is individually- and child-oriented in order to bring your child closer and closer to the optimal performance of their body, without the unconditional will to win. Naturally, there must be some ambition - but you should also teach your child the certainty that defeats are part of life.
Twice-weekly training is not all that we offer. Our Mini Raptors group - currently about 25 children - go on trips to rugby tournaments - for example to Hannover, Hamburg and many other cities in Germany.
We also try to instil important values in our children, such as respect for others and the idea of fair play.
CURIOUS? COME AND HAVE A LOOK!
Experts agree that sport is one of the most important activities for children and young people. Just come to the training with your child and see for yourself. We can’t wait to show you how we can introduce your child to the sport of rugby, gradually and with a lot of fun and joy along the way, even while we take the utmost care in safety aspects with regard to injury and the issue of optimal load for your child.
